Beef and Green Onion Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Beef 5 lbs
- Onion 1 head
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper 1 teaspoon
- Water 15 fl oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce 5 oz
- Barbecue sauce 5 fl oz
- Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
- Corn Starch 1 tablespoon
- Bun 12 pieces
- Scallions to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a pot, place the meat cut into small pieces, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix the water and tomato paste and pour over the meat. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, until the meat is tender. Remove the meat from the sauce and let it cool slightly. Use 2 forks to shred it into small pieces.
Step 2
Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and pour it into a deep skillet. Add 480 ml of the meat sauce, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Add the meat and mix well.
Step 3
Cut the buns in half and place a small amount of the meat mixture on the bottom half. Sprinkle with green onion and cover with the other halves.
