Description

Traditionally, the vegetables in a Greek salad are not mixed with the cheese. Feta cheese is cut into large, thick slices and placed on top of all the vegetables. Classic Greek salad is often dressed with red wine vinegar and sprinkled with fresh herbs, particularly dill. The amount of salt is adjusted to taste, as the cheese and olives are already quite salty on their own.

  • Tomatoes 2 pieces
  • Green peppercorns 1 piece
  • Olives stuffed with lemon 10 pieces
  • Cucumbers 2 pieces
  • Dried Rosemary 1 tablespoon
  • Feta cheese 10 oz
  • Olive Oil 0 fl oz
  • Salt a pinch
  • Spanish onions 1 head

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Peel the cucumbers thoroughly and slice them into thick half-moon pieces. Place them in a deep salad bowl or a wide dish that will be convenient for mixing.

Cut the tomatoes into large wedges. Add them to the salad bowl with the cucumbers and mix. It's best to toss the Greek salad by hand, adding a little olive oil at each stage.

Remove the seeds and membranes from the sweet green pepper and cut it into large cubes. Add to the salad bowl and mix with the other vegetables.

Slice the red onion into thin half-rings, then separate them into thin petals using your hands. Add to the other vegetables and mix everything together again.

Add pitted olives to the salad bowl (you can buy olives that are already pitted, or you can remove the pits yourself by gently crushing each olive with the flat side of a knife and then removing the pit).

Cut the firm feta cheese into rectangular slices about 1 cm thick using a sharp knife. To prevent the cheese from sticking to the blade, you can dip the knife in warm water beforehand.

Stir the vegetables in the salad bowl once more and distribute them onto plates. Top each serving with 2 slices of feta cheese. Drizzle generously with olive oil.

Lightly season the salad with salt and sprinkle with dried oregano.

Drizzle with olive oil once more on top and serve immediately, while the vegetables are still juicy.
