
Almond Cookies (Nshablit)

Description
Sugar syrup: add sugar (2 tablespoons of water + 4 tablespoons of sugar) to boiling water and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the desired thickness is achieved.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 5 oz
- Chopped almonds 10 oz
- Sugar 5 oz
- Water 5 fl oz
- Egg white 1 piece
- Gingerbread-flavored syrup 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, heat the water, then add the sugar. Bring the syrup to a boil, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved, slightly cool, and add half of the ground almonds.
Step 2
Whip the egg whites and, while continuously whipping, pour in the syrup. Heat the mixture for 15 minutes over low heat, stirring, then cool to room temperature.
Step 3
Gradually incorporate the flour into this mixture and knead the dough for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes homogeneous.
Step 4
Using a spoon, place portions of dough weighing about 30 g onto a greased and floured baking sheet. In the center of each cookie, place half of a blanched and toasted almond.
Step 5
Bake the nshablit for 30 minutes at 355°F, then cool.
Step 6
Prepare the syrup from water and sugar and brush it over the cooled cookies.
